My first GDS history blog

This is the cover for Michael Jackson's Off The Wall album.  I have this album, and I was going to take a picture of the cover myself with my digital camera.  Unfortunately, I didn't have enough battery power to take the picture, so I had to get it from the web.  I've always liked this album cover, so I wanted to use it for my first blog.  It being an album cover, its function is to draw viewers attention in the hopes that they will buy this album.  I did, obviously, and that is why I have with me at my place.  The design here is simple, yet intriguing - a brickwall background and Michael Jackson's legs smackdab in front of it, so it looks like he is literally off the wall, whether that was the idea or not.  The kind of type used for name and title of the album seems appropriate for this kind of setting.  It almost looks graffiti-like.  Looking as if Michael is outside of a brick building and the type resembling graffiti, they go well together since graffiti is typically on brick or concrete buildings.  What attracts me most to this is brick wall.  I have an affinity for brick wall type backgrounds, so was ideal for me.  It's simple, yet complex.  Each brick is slightly different, in both color and shape, but has the same range.  Also there is the light coming from the top.  I think it sets a mood, both light and...nostalgic.  Plus, it makes it stand out more.  A good piece of design, in my opinion.
